TP Interview 002：日替わりBar Tonzura　オーナー　櫻井謙充（後編）

 

自分の自由にやれることが一番。
自分がやりたいことを純粋にやりたいから起業しました。

 

マーケティングコンサルタントと、シェアリングバーのオーナーという二足の草鞋（わらじ）を履いて起業した櫻井氏。

「自分が好きなこと、やりたいことを仕事にして、自然体で自由に生きる」

ということを見事に体現している櫻井氏に、起業に至った背景と、起業前後の変化について語ってもらった。

 

～先のことを考えすぎるより、今のことをちゃんとやっていきたい～

【櫻井氏】
正直、先のことを考えてもその通りになる可能性って低いじゃないですか。

あまり先のことまで考えすぎちゃうと、動けなくなるというか。だったら今をちゃんとやっていった方がいいかなって思います。

定年という考え方もないし、やれる限りずっとやっていきたいですね。

 

 【インタビュアー：岡本康典】マーケティングやシェアリングバーでは、特に何を意識されていますか？

【櫻井氏】
このバーでいろいろな人と話をするのが、「一歩踏み出すこと」につながることです。
「やりたい」というのと「やる」というのには、明確な壁というか段差があると思います。

やりたいと思ったら、とりあえずやってから考えるということを意識しています。
そのためにはリスクコントロールが大事だと思っています。まずはちゃんとリスクコントロールをして、どれくらいのリスクだったら許容できるのかというのを考えながら、「まずはやってみる」ということを意識するようになってきましたね。

 

このバーを通して、「ちょっとやってみたいです」とか「やりたいです」という人はすごく沢山いるんです。でも実際にやる人って少なくて。

例えば僕が「こういうのをこういう感じでできますよ」と言うと、「いや、まだタイミングが…」とか「家族のあれが…」とか。
「いや、週一とか月一でもいいんですよ」と言っても、「いや、仕入れが…」とか。さらには「お酒も全部お店にあるので、仕入れもしなくていいです」とハードルを下げても、「いやちょっとタイミングが…」という人を見ると、「この人は本当はやるつもりはないんだな」って思いますね。

そういうのを見てるとやっぱり、「やりたい」っていう人はすごくたくさんいるけど、実際にやる人って全然いません。
なので、やったもん勝ちと言ったら変ですけど、まずはやってみることが大事だなとすごく思っています。
「とりあえずやってみよう」ということは意識してます。

あと大事なことは、どのレベルだったらできるか。自分として「これくらいだったら失敗しても勉強代として納得できるな」っていうところを見つけておかないとだめだな、と最近すごく意識してます。

 

 【岡本】やらない人は確かに多いですが、行動する人と行動しない人は何が違うんでしょうか？

【櫻井氏】
たぶん行動できない人って、失敗することが怖いんだと思います。それに対して、行動する人は失敗を失敗として認識していない。
「これやりました、ダメでした」となったら、「これをやったらこういう結果になったという情報が手に入る」と思えるか、違いなのかなって思いますね。

リーンスタートアップなんかはサービス開発の話ですけど、起業とか独立もすごく似てるなと思います。自分にとっての最小限がどこなのかというのを、ちゃんと設計していくと、いいのなかなって思います。

 

 【岡本】「やりたい」と思っているのにやらない人に対して、どうすれば動けるようになると思いますか？

【櫻井氏】
自分がやったときのイメージがつくと動けるのではないかと思っています。

今すごく意識しているのは、成功事例をどんどんつくることです。

その成功事例も、「すごく頑張りました」っていう成功事例だとハードルが上がっちゃうので、「こんなもんなんだ」「これぐらいはいけるんだ」っていう「そこそこの成功事例」をうまくつくれないかなって思ってます。

それと、根本的にはみんな失敗するのが嫌なので、「それは失敗じゃないんだよ」ということをどう理解してもらうか。
僕自身が割とチャランポランな感じだから、「こんなやつでもできるんだ」ってことが分かると、やってくれる人が増えるんじゃないかなって思いますね。

 

～生きていければいい、と思えば余裕が生まれる～

 

【岡本】すごく自由にやっているように感じたんですが、とは言え経営していかないといけない。何か長く続けていくための基準とか、気をつけていることはありますか？

【櫻井氏】
長く続けていくためには、バーもコンサルもそうなんですが、最低限これぐらいだったら生きていけるっていう金額を決めておくことですかね。

僕が最初にウェブマーケティングを始めたときは、月15万円あれば生きていけるな、という計算をしました。15万だったら、まあなんとか行けそうな感じがするじゃないですか。

長く続けるためには、売上どうこうというよりかは、最低限のここから下はくぐらないようにしようって決める感じでやってました。

それがあるから心にも余裕があります。
正直、ウェブマーケティングで仕事なかったら、アルバイトとか何でもいいやって思ってましたからね。
売上目標よりは、最低限のラインを決めといた方が逆に選択肢があって心にもゆとりができて。
で、心にもゆとりができると仕事の質も高くなってくる…そんな感じですね。

 

 【岡本】まったくガツガツしていない、逆発想ですね。いい生活したいとかじゃなくて、最低ラインさえクリアできたら好きにやって、結果的にそれより売上が上がったらラッキー、というそんな感じがします。それは会社員では難しいですよね？

【櫻井氏】
絶対無理だと思います。売上目標があるじゃないですか。
それが個人なら自由にできるっていうのは大きいですね。
やっぱり身の丈に合わせるというか。僕の場合、これより下回らないというのが売上目標です。
年次の売上目標を高めに設定すると、そこでギャップが出て焦ってくると思ったので。そうなると正しい判断ができなくなってくるし。

目標を高めにした方が頑張れるっていう人がいるとは思うんですけど、僕の場合は、最低限のところを押さえておけばOKっていう。

 

 【岡本】自分が納得できるかどうかっていうのが大事なんですね。
高い目標が未達の状態だと、受けたら後悔するとわかっている仕事を売上のために受けてしまうことになりかねませんから。

【櫻井氏】
そうですね。
手間ばっかりかかる仕事を受けちゃったりとか。ちょっとやばそうな感じがする人の仕事も受けちゃったりとか。

 

 【岡本】櫻井さんと同じようなスタンスでやっているお知り合いはいますか？

【櫻井氏】
あまりいないかもしれないですね。自分としては自由な時間をつくりたいっていうのがあったので。
ただ、売上が最低限できてくると欲が出てくるので、「あれ？売上だけで1000万円いくんじゃないの？」と思って、ちょっと頑張ってみることはあります。
でも、ベースはフラットな感じでやる方が、僕の場合はいいと思います。

 

 【岡本】なんとなく1000万円くらいのお金があれば、自由で幸せになれると思っている人が多いと思いますが、どう思われますか？

【櫻井氏】
僕の理想に近いのは、お金を稼ぐというよりも、物々交換的に周りから支援をもらえる人になりたいな、というのがあります。
家がないんだけどどうしよう？ってなったら、「今月俺んちに泊まってけよ」とか。そういうふうに生きていける人に憧れますね、まあ現実的には無理だと思いますが。

 

～一歩踏み出すのに必要なのは・・・～

【岡本】そろそろ最後になりますが、一歩踏み出したいと思っている人に向けて、メッセージをお願いします。

【櫻井氏】

どのレベルなら自分にできるのかという、リスクコントロールができると一歩踏み出せるのかなと思います。

その一歩が大股なのか、5ミリくらいなのか、誰かに支えられたら歩けますなのか、自分がどういう感じだったら一歩踏み出せるのかということを考えると、その一歩が踏み出しやすくなると思います。

 

【岡本】そのリスクコントロールを自分一人でできない場合、どうすれば良いでしょうか？

【櫻井氏】
一緒にやってくれる人を探すと良いと思いますね。
一人だと不安なら、同じようなことをやりたいと思っている人を探したらどうでしょうか。

 

【岡本】会社を辞める前の櫻井さんご自身に、もしアドバイスできるとしたら何と言いますか？

会社員だけが選択肢じゃない

ってことを、ちゃんと伝えたいと思います。今、自分の好きなものをお金にする術ってたくさんあるじゃないですか。
なので、

会社員だけが正解じゃないし、世の中に失敗なんて存在しない

っていうことを伝えたいと思います。当時は、失敗という意識がありましたから。
