会社員でも知っておきたい、確定申告のパターンとは？

確定申告は会社員には関係ないと思っていませんか？ 実は、会社員でも確定申告をすれば税金が戻ってくる場合、逆に別途税金を納めなければならない場合もあります。

1.会社員で確定申告が必要な場合

会社員だからといって、安心してはいけません。
特定の条件下では、会社員でもご自身で確定申告をする必要があります。

  1. 会社員としての年間給与収入が2000万円を越える
  2. 会社員としての給与所得や退職所得以外に、年間の収入の合計が20万円を越える
  3. 給与を２ヶ所以上から受け取っていて年末調整をしていない
  4. 同族会社の役員やその親族などで給与の他に貸付金の利子や賃貸料など支払いを受けた
  5. 被災して災害減免法により源泉徴収額の徴収猶予や還付を受けた
  6. 公的年金などの雑所得の金額から所得控除を差し引いても残額がある
  7. 外国企業から受け取った退職金など源泉徴収されないものがある

その他にも、期の途中で会社を辞めて、年末までに再就職していない人も確定申告が必要になります。

2.会社員かどうかは関係なく確定申告が必要な場合

給与所得者かどうかに関係なく、下記に該当する場合は確定申告が必要になります。

  1. 個人事業主の場合の事業所得や、アパートなどの家賃収入がある
  2. 年金などの収入がある
  3. 不動産やゴルフ会員権、株式などを譲渡して所得が発生した

特に3は意外と忘れがちなので注意が必要です。
会社のストックオプションなどを利用したりして、「株の売却」を行なった場合も確定申告が必要になります。

3.確定申告が不要な場合

一般の会社員の場合は年末調整で税額が精算されるので、確定申告の必要はありません。他にはパートやアルバイトで収入が103万円以下の場合も不要です。

また、公的年金の収入が400万円以下で、その他の収入がない場合も確定申告は不要です。ただし、確定申告することで税金の還付が受けられる場合もあります。
確定申告が不要なのは次の通りです。

  1. 会社に勤務している人で、会社が年末調整を行っている
  2. 収入が１０３万円以下
  3. 公的年金の収入が400万円以下で、かつ、その他の所得が20万円以下の場合

4.確定申告したら得する可能性がある場合

  1. 会社員で、医療費控除、住宅ローン控除、雑損控除、寄附金控除などが適用される
  2. 年末調整で、生命保険控除や地震保険控除を申請し忘れた
  3. 年の途中で退職し、年末調整されていない
  4. 「退職所得の受給に関する申告書」を提出せずに退職金を受け取った
  5. 副収入の所得が20万円以下の会社員で、副収入が源泉徴収されている

年末調整をした会社員でも、雑損控除や医療費控除などの適応を受けられる場合があります。
また年末調整のとき、生命保険料控除や地震保険控除などの申請を忘れてしまった場合も、確定申告することで納税額が再計算されます。

他には、一定以上の条件で住宅ローンを組んでマイホームを購入すると、住宅ローン減税が受けられますが、初回は年末調整で手続きができないために、確定申告が必要になります。
一度手続きをすれば、その後は年末調整で減税が受けられるようになるので、忘れずに申告しましょう。

また、「損失」が出た場合も、確定申告をすることで納税額を減らすことができます。
例えば、居住用の住宅を売却した金額が、残りの住宅ローンよりも少なかった場合や、上場株式の譲渡で損失があった場合は、配当所得と損益通算することができます。
その年に控除しきれなかった場合は、翌年以降3年間繰り越すことができます。

5.最後に

会社員は源泉徴収されるので、通常は確定申告する必要がありません。
しかし、医療費がかさんだり、住宅を購入したり、株式の譲渡で損失が出たりしたときに、確定申告をすると税金を安く抑えることができます。

残念ながら、「税金が安くなるから確定申告した方がいい」ことは、何もしなければ誰も教えてくれません。
自分で調べてもわからなければ、詳しい人に相談してみるか、国税庁のホームページで確認してみてください。
